Anime Expo 2026, taking place July 2–5 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, has announced several new highlights — including U.S. premiere screenings of new anime titles and staff/cast panels for well-known series.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 Staff Flies In to AX
The event will welcome key guests from Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (葬送のフリーレン) Season 2, including director Tomoya Kitagawa, series director Keiichiro Saito, animation producer Yuichiro Fukushi, and character designer Keisuke Kojima. All four will participate in a special panel on July 4th at 6:00 PM at the JW Marriott Platinum Ballroom. The event will also feature renowned manga artist and illustrator Acky Bright as a guest.
U.S. Premiere Screening of “Sparks of Tomorrow”
The anime Sparks of Tomorrow will have its U.S. premiere screening at the event ahead of the series’ Japanese broadcast debut on July 5th on Tokyo MX at 11:00 PM and BS11 at 11:30 PM, with additional broadcasts on ABC TV and TV Aichi. For streaming, Netflix will deliver the series worldwide exclusively, every Sunday starting July 5th at 11:00 PM Japan time.
The anime is adapted from a novel set in summer of 1907 (Meiji year 40), following Inako Momokawa, a 15-year-old girl and second daughter of the owner of a dyeing shop in the Fushimi, Kyoto area. She is someone who always seems to fail at everything she tries and is scolded by her father almost every day — her only source of solace is reciting sutras and praying to the gods. One day, at the Fushimi Inari Shrine, she meets Kihaji Sakamoto, a young man who denies the existence of the gods but firmly believes in the power of the coming electric age.
