The Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2026 ceremony was held on May 23 at Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo. Before the official proceedings began, guests from Japan and abroad — including representatives from nominated works — walked the distinctive Orange Carpet, one of the event’s signature traditions.
The 10th Edition with Six Nominees for the Top Prize
This year marks the 10th Crunchyroll Anime Awards, co-organized by major U.S. streaming platform Crunchyroll. The Anime of the Year category featured six nominated titles:
- DAN DA DAN Season 2
- Gachiakuta
- My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON
- Takopi’s Original Sin
- The Apothecary Diaries Season 2
- Hikari ga Shinda Natsu
A Lively Ceremony with Artists and Voice Actors
The event’s regular MCs John Cabrera and Amazarashi Sari, returning from the previous year, hosted the ceremony once again. Presenters on the night included Arimura Kasumi, Enako, Saito Asuka, Nishino Nanase, and the duo Mitsuishi.
Artists who performed during the opening segment included DEAN FUJIOKA, Porno Graffitti, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, and Takahashi Yoko, with Takahashi Yoko drawing particular attention for her striking metallic outfit on stage.
Anime Staff and Voice Actors Join the Celebration
Nominated works also sent representatives to the event. Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World Season 3 was represented by director Shinohara Masahiro and the production team.
Kaiju No. 8 brought voice actor Fukunishi Katsuya, who voices Hibino Kafka / Kaiju No. 8, and had fun posting a pose with the number “8” for photographers backstage.
From Takopi’s Original Sin, voice actor Ueda Rena, who voices Chizuka, attended alongside series director and series composition lead Iino Shinya and the team. Meanwhile, Gachiakuta sent director Suganuma Fumihiko and series composition lead Sego Koji.
For DAN DA DAN, voice actress Wakayama Shion, who voices Momo (Ayase Momo), and director Yamashiro Fuka were among those in attendance.
