Toei Animation, in collaboration with developer Studio51 Inc., revealed the title, platform, and English language support for a new game in the Expelled from Paradise (ラカン・ツイホー) franchise on Friday.
The Visual Novel Fans Have Been Waiting For
The game is a visual novel titled Expelled from Paradise -The Stellar Angel- (ラカン・ツイホー -The Stellar Angel-), slated for release in winter 2026 on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, with support for both English and Japanese. Toei Animation serves as the publisher.
Toei Animation described the game as a new sequel that continues the story from the original anime film, with protagonists Angela and Dingo embarking on another adventure in a fully realized visual novel format that expands the sci-fi universe through a compelling narrative and rich presentation.
A New Anime Film Is Also Coming
In addition to the game, a full-length sequel anime film titled Rakuen Tsuihou -Expelled from Paradise- Kokoro no Resonance (also known as Rakuen Tsuihou: Kokoro no Resonance) is scheduled for release in Japan on November 13. The core team from the original film returns, including director Seiji Mizushima, screenwriter Gen Urobuchi from Nitroplus, character designer Masatsugu Saito, and composer NARASAKI, with Toei Animation handling the animation production.
The title of the anime film has been changed from the previously announced Rakuen Tsuihou: Liberated from Paradise to its current name.
Franchise History
The original Expelled from Paradise anime film premiered in Japanese theaters in November 2014 and sold over 110,000 tickets at the box office. Blu-ray Disc and DVD sales in Japan reached approximately 70,000 units. The film also won the Best Animation Award at the Japan Movie Critics Awards (24th ceremony) in May 2015.
In the United States, Aniplex of America screened the film in 15 theaters in December 2014 before releasing the Blu-ray Disc across North America, Central America, and South America in June 2015.
In November 2024, the film was re-screened in Japan in a 4K restoration version titled Expelled from Paradise -Impelled by 10th Anniversary- to commemorate the film’s 10th anniversary.
