Good Smile Company has announced a new project titled 「合体神シリーズ」(Gattai-shin Series) to celebrate the company’s 25th anniversary. The first work in the series will be the original robot anime 「獣王武神ダンデヴァイン」(Juuou Bushin Dandevine), which is scheduled to air in October 2026.
Synopsis
The story is set in a world 20 years after the combining robot “Dandevine” defeated a mysterious enemy known as “Apostol.” The toy company Kasuga, which once flourished by producing Dandevine toys, is now struggling. Company president Genjuro Shijima still dreams of seeing Dandevine return, and as if his wish were heard, the Apostol reappear in Tokyo. Amid the chaos, Gekiha Shijima, a high school student and Genjuro’s grandson, is urged by his uncle Yusaku Kuroiwa, Dandevine’s former main pilot, to board the robot once again.

The opening theme will be performed by Takanori Nishikawa (T.M.Revolution). Nishikawa commented, “I grew up with robot anime, so I want to share this Japanese pride with the world. Please look forward to both the anime and the opening theme.” A manga adaptation has also been announced for serialization in Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh (KADOKAWA).
Press Conference at Tokyo’s UDX Theatre
A press conference announcing the “Gattai-shin Series” was held at UDX Theatre in Tokyo on June 3. Stage guests included Takuma Terashima, Toshiki Inoue, director Cao Yi, Hirotaka Takahara (Takara Tomy), Takanori Aki (president of Good Smile Company), Hiroaki Tanaka (chief producer), and Tetsuro Satomi (producer).
Good Smile Company president Takanori Aki said, “This is not merely the launch of a new anime and toy line. It is our biggest challenge yet: fully integrating combining robot toys with visual entertainment.” He also revealed a long-term plan for a second entry in 2027 and a third in 2028, with the goal of creating a “new standard for robot anime” that can endure across generations.
Hirotaka Takahara of Takara Tomy said he decided to join the project after becoming convinced that the collaboration could bring joy to fans around the world. Chief producer Hiroaki Tanaka expressed concern that combining robot culture could fade away because such designs require specialized expertise and because birth rates are declining globally. That concern became a driving force behind creating the work themselves to help carry the culture forward.
Terashima Discusses the “Most Boring” Protagonist
Takuma Terashima shared his excitement as a passionate robot anime fan, saying, “I’m 100% confident that fans will be incredibly excited about this.” He added that he is looking forward to seeing the robot combination scenes and internal structures depicted in the anime.
Scriptwriter Toshiki Inoue described Gekiha as “the most boring man,” explaining that he intentionally made the character a good-looking young man with nothing especially remarkable about him, so viewers would wonder, “Will this guy grow?” – and the answer may be no. That, he said, is part of the character’s appeal. Director Cao Yi added, “This character is very consistent. He may not change at all (laughs), but the performance is very interesting, and the story is definitely fun.” Producer Satomi noted that because Inoue wrote every episode himself, the character’s wavering nature comes through exactly as intended.
Chief producer Tanaka closed by saying, “The protagonist may sound worrying, but this anime is truly very entertaining. It has all the heat, coolness, and energy of robot anime. Please look forward to it.”
