Studio Ghibli has released a trailer and giveaway details for audiences attending Majo no Takkyubin (魔女の宅急便) 4K Digital Remaster, which will screen for a limited time at IMAX theaters across Japan starting June 19, 2026.
Crisp 4K Visuals and the Beloved Soundtrack
Majo no Takkyubin is a work by Miyazaki Hayao as director, screenwriter, and producer, originally released in 1989. For this 4K Remaster version, supervised directly by Studio Ghibli, the film presents various scenes with greater clarity and vibrancy than the original. The trailer is accompanied by the song “Yasashisa ni Tsutsumareta Nara” performed by Arai Yumi, the iconic theme song of this film.
Special Giveaway: A3 IMAX Poster
Attendees of the theatrical screenings will receive a A3-size IMAX visual poster as a commemorative gift. The image on the poster is drawn from an Image Board created during the film’s production — depicting Kiki from behind as she gazes down at the city on a moonlit night before setting out on her journey.
Nationwide Expansion and the World’s First Dolby Cinema Run
Beyond the IMAX run, starting July 3, 2026 the 4K Digital Remaster will expand to 116 theaters covering all 47 prefectures across Japan for a two-week period. A particular highlight is that the film will screen in Dolby Cinema at 11 theaters — marking the world’s first time Majo no Takkyubin has screened in Dolby Cinema.
