The official anime website for the TV anime adaptation of Needy Girl Overdose (known as Needy Streamer Overload on Steam in English), a production by WSS (Why So Serious) Playground and Xemono, released the “Next Chapter” promotional video last Sunday, set to the song “INTERNET YAMERO” by Aiobahn +81 from the original game.
New Unit “Karamazov”
The anime introduces a brand-new unit called Karamazov, featuring the following voice cast:
- Rina Kawaguchi as Purple Lollipop, leader of Karamazov
- Satsuki Shiina as Michika Gokubara
- Seena Hoshiki as Nechika-sama
Additionally, Anna Nagase appears as Kache, a part-time student who also works at a concept café.
Production Team
Production studio WSS Playground serves as the original work rights holder. Masaoki Nakajima, who previously worked on New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT, Blue Archive The Animation, and Azur Lane: Slow Ahead! as episode director, takes the helm as series director at studio Yostar Pictures.
Original game writer nyalra is credited for the original concept, series composition, and series supervision, as well as penning the opening theme lyrics. Character designer Ohisashiburi, the original game’s character artist, handles character design for the anime as well, with a core design team consisting of Kenji Saikai (lead animator from New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT), Akari Takei (sub-character animator from Blue Archive Short Animation beautiful day dreamer), and Umito Shimizu (sub-character animator from Is the Order a Rabbit?).
Theme Songs
The opening theme is “Internet Angel”, composed and arranged by franchise composer Aiobahn +81, performed by “KAngel” (Japanese name: ちょうてんちゃん / Chōten-chan). The ending theme is titled “Levitation”, performed by Tatsuya Kitani.
The nyalra Dispute
Last November, nyalra publicly posted statements in both Japanese and English, revealing that WSS Playground had removed them from the management and promotion of the anime adaptation, and that they had not received full compensation for their work. Their legal representatives are currently investigating the matter and taking steps to protect nyalra’s rights and the integrity of their creative work.
Original Game and Other Media
WSS Playground and Xemono released the original game in January 2022 on PC via Steam in English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. The game has surpassed 3 million downloads and is also available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
The manga adaptation Needy Girl Overdose: Run with My Sick by Itaru Bonnoki (The Vampire Dies in No Time) has been serialized on Akita Shoten’s Manga Cross website since March 2023.
There is also a four-panel manga series titled Needyga Plus (Needy Girl Plus), posting on X/Twitter as the anime’s official account since April 5, updated every Sunday and illustrated by Kokamumo, who created fan MVs for the original game. The account also hosts the official MVs for “Internet Overdose” and “Internet Yamero” from the game.
