The TV anime 「天は赤い河のほとり」(Ten wa Akai Kawa no Hotori) has announced an additional batch of voice cast members: Ono Tomohito, Aoki Shiki, Kawade Natsumi, Matsuoka Mizato, Ishitani Haruki, Enoki Junya, and Kamio Shinichiro. The official main visual has also been revealed.
About the Work
Ten wa Akai Kawa no Hotori is adapted from the historical fantasy manga by Shinohara Chie, serialized in the magazine “少女コミック” from 1995 to 2002. The work won the Shogakukan Manga Award, 46th shoujo category, and was adapted for the stage at the Takarazuka Revue in 2018, with a combined print run of over 20 million copies — marking the first time a work by Shinohara Chie was adapted as a TV anime. An anniversary collected edition (愛蔵版) of the original manga has also been announced.
Story Synopsis
Yuri (鈴木夕梨) is an ordinary girl living in modern-day Japan, but her life turns upside down when she is transported to the Hittite Empire of the 14th century BC. There she encounters Prince Kail, who stands in the line of succession to the Hittite throne. Yuri is concealed within the palace as a concubine-candidate and gradually earns the trust of the people, eventually being given the name Ishtar, the War Goddess. Against the backdrop of Queen Nakia’s intrigues, conflicts with neighboring kingdoms, and life-or-death battles, she begins to develop feelings for Kail.

Main Visual and Story Atmosphere
The newly released main visual shows Yuri standing tall and dignified, holding a torch high against a sky lit by the colors of dawn. Also visible are Prince Kail, Prince Zananza, and Queen Nakia — who gazes at them with icy composure — along with Mattiwaza, the Mittani prince who eyes Yuri coldly. The composition is filled with tension and loaded with foreshadowing of the trials that lie ahead.
