Netflix has released a new trailer for part 2 of BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai, the anime adaptation of the first Baki-Dou manga by Keisuke Itagaki. The trailer reveals both the opening and ending theme songs for the new part.
Part 2 Theme Songs
The opening song for part 2 is titled “Musashi” (its Japanese title is “Roku no Rin,” or “Six Rings”) and is performed by the rock band Chevon. The ending song, titled “Katana”, is performed by J SOUL BROTHERS III.
Part 2 Story
Deep beneath Tokyo Skytree lies the secret laboratory of Mitsunari Tokugawa, a world-class collector and obsessive fan of combat. There, a forbidden experiment is about to begin: the cloning and resurrection of the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi from his remains, using cutting-edge scientific technology.
Musashi, revered as the ultimate warrior, sword saint, and unrivaled master, returns to the modern world and sends shockwaves across Japan, escalating into a global crisis. Baki, Yujiro, and the fierce fighters of the underground arena are drawn into this clash across eras to decide who is the strongest fighter in history.
Miyamoto Musashi is voiced in the anime by Naoya Uchida.
Release Schedule and Details
Part 2 will debut worldwide on Netflix on June 18, with all 12 episodes released at once. The first part, which had 13 episodes, began streaming on February 26.
History of the Baki Franchise
Itagaki’s original manga Baki The Grappler ran in Weekly Shōnen Champion for 42 volumes from 1991 to 1999. It was followed by Baki (31 volumes, 1999-2005) and Hanma Baki (37 volumes, 2005-2012). The first Baki-Dou manga, which serves as the basis for this anime, launched in March 2014 and ended in April 2018 with 22 volumes.
A new Baki-Dou manga then launched in October 2018 and ended in June 2023, while the franchise’s latest manga, Baki Rahen, launched in August 2023.
As for the Netflix anime, the first series debuted in Japan in June 2018 with 26 episodes, followed by Baki: Dai Raitaisai-hen in June 2020 and season 1 of Baki Hanma in September 2021, before season 2 debuted in July-August 2023.
