The Japanese manga world has suffered another major loss, with the news that Ritsuhiro Mimori (御守リツヒロ), a beloved manga artist, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026.
The news was announced through the official X accounts of two publishers: the Zero-Sum editorial department at Ichijinsha and the Flos Comic editorial department, a manga label under KADOKAWA.
Messages of Condolence from the Publishers
The Zero-Sum editorial department stated that Ritsuhiro Mimori made their debut with the publisher and left behind many valuable works, including Bakuroku and World End: Debugger. The editors expressed their grief, saying, “The news of this far-too-early passing has left everyone on the editorial team with indescribable sadness.” They also offered respect and gratitude for Mimori’s lifetime of work, along with condolences to the bereaved family.
Flos Comic’s editorial department said that Ritsuhiro Mimori was the artist behind the manga Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei Shippai shite Kachi Heroine ni Natte Shimaimashita (Failed to Reincarnate as a Villainess and Became the Winning Heroine Instead), which was adapted from the original novel by Teru Yuzuhara and serialized through the label.
Devoted to Creating Until the Final Breath
Flos Comic’s editorial department also spoke about Mimori’s warm personality, saying “Even while undergoing treatment, Sensei remained cheerful and bright like the sun, and poured their heart into creating works until the very end.”
The editors also revealed that the first part of a one-shot commemorating the first anniversary of the series’ conclusion has already been released. As for the second part, Ritsuhiro Mimori had nearly completed the manuscript, with only the final few pages remaining. The editorial department said it will provide another update once the release schedule for the second part and the future handling of the work become clear.
