Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine announced on Thursday that Gifted, the manga by story writer Seimaru Amagi and artist Rima Amamiya, will receive an anime adaptation scheduled to air in 2027.
Amamiya posted a celebratory illustration on X/Twitter for the announcement, expressing happiness that the work will be presented in a new format after previously being adapted into a live-action drama.
About the Gifted Manga
Amagi and Amamiya began serializing the manga in Nakayoshi in December 2021. Kodansha previously credited the author as Shin Kibayashi, another pen name used by Seimaru Amagi. The manga currently has 12 compiled volumes, with volume 12 scheduled for release on June 12.
Synopsis
The series follows Natsuki Amakusa, a brilliant detective gifted with extraordinary deductive ability, intuition, and logic, and Yūya Shiki, a young man born with the special ability to identify murderers. The two form a partnership to solve mysterious cases too difficult for anyone else to crack.
Live-Action Drama
The manga was previously adapted into a live-action drama starring Takahisa Masuda of NEWS as Natsuki Amakusa and Hidaka Ukisho as Yūya Shiki. The series had two seasons, with the first beginning in August 2023 and the second following in October 2023.
About Seimaru Amagi
Seimaru Amagi is one of the pen names of Shin Kibayashi, a manga writer with many works under several names. These include Tadashi Agi (shared with his sister Yuko Kibayashi), writer of Drops of God; Yuya Aoki (GetBackers); Ryō Ryūmon (Bloody Monday); Seimaru Amagi (original creator of Kindaichi Case Files); and Yuma Ando (Psychometrer, Sherlock Bones), among others.
