About Kemono Jihen
Kemono Jihen follows Inugami, a Tokyo detective who specializes in supernatural cases. One day, he is asked to investigate a remote village, where he meets a mysterious boy known as “Dorotabo,” named after a yokai said to haunt rice fields. The boy has no parents and gives off a strange odor that makes others avoid him, but Inugami senses that there is more hidden within the boy than just his nickname. The truth comes to light as the two investigate strange creatures attacking livestock in the village. Inugami then decides to take the boy in and train him to deal with the mysterious beasts hidden in the world, using the special power concealed within his body.
The original manga by Aimoto began serialization in Jump SQ. in December 2016. Shueisha has released 24 compiled volumes to date, with volume 24 released on December 4. Seven Seas Entertainment released the 20th English volume on March 17. The manga also inspired a television anime adaptation that first aired in January 2021.
