The special guidebook “Rurubu Nintama Rantaro”, a collaboration between the popular anime series “Nintama Rantaro”, based on the work by Sōbē Amako (尼子騒兵衛), and the travel magazine Rurubu, officially went on sale on June 4.
A Complete Look at Both the Anime World and Real Locations
The book gives readers a detailed dive into the anime’s universe, from main characters such as Rantaro, Kirimaru, and Shinbe to the atmosphere of the Ninja Academy (忍術学園), its dormitories, and the food, clothing, and housing of the young ninjas.
It also introduces notable real-life locations, including the city of Amagasaki in Hyogo Prefecture, the hometown of creator Sōbē Amako, with in-depth travel information about the city. The guide also covers ninja-experience facilities across Japan and sightseeing spots that let visitors feel close to the historical setting of the series.
Interviews and Special Features
The guidebook is packed with special content, including:
- An interview with Kosuke Okano (岡野浩介), the voice of Rikichi Yamada
- Interviews with cast members from the sixth-year student lineup of the “Nintama Rantaro” musical
- A conversation between Sōbē Amako and Hisashi Kitagawa (北川央), honorary director of the Kudoyama Sanada Museum (九度山・真田ミュージアム)
Place-Name Pilgrimage and Special Stickers
Fans of the original manga “Rakudai Ninja Rantaro” can enjoy the “Chimei Meguri” column, which traces locations in Hyogo Prefecture that inspired character names in the series.
As a special bonus, the guidebook also comes with stickers featuring selected cuts from episode “Amagasaki ni Goshōtai no Dan” of the 31st anime series, focusing especially on characters whose names come from place names in Amagasaki.
