The Japanese voice acting community has lost another member, as Fujiwara Takahiro (Fujiwara Takahiro), best known for voicing Kurogiri in the anime Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia), passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026 at the age of 43.
His passing was announced by his agency Ken Production on May 21, 2026, along with the statement: “Our talent Fujiwara Takahiro (43) passed away peacefully on May 14. We sincerely thank everyone who warmly supported him throughout his life. The funeral was held privately according to the family’s wishes.” The ceremony was a private affair held in keeping with the family’s intentions.
Career and Works
Fujiwara Takahiro was born on July 15, 1982, in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan. Throughout his professional career, he lent his voice to numerous anime series, including:
- Boku no Hero Academia — as Kurogiri (Kurogiri)
- Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion Z — as Shimazu Goichi
- SHAMAN KING — as Big Guy Bill (Big Guy Bill)
- Kingdom — as Kan Jo (関常), a role he held for many years
Beyond anime, he also had voice acting credits in live-action films and overseas series, including the film Last Escape in the role of Seldan (Seldár Atakan) and the series CSI: as Crawford.
His Departure from Kingdom
Prior to this loss, Fujiwara had stepped down from voicing the character in Kingdom Season 6, which began airing in October 2025, due to health issues — a sign that reflected his physical condition at the time.
The passing of Fujiwara Takahiro at just 43 is a tremendous loss for the Japanese voice acting industry. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and those close to him.
