There is exciting news for Dorohedoro (ドロヘドロ) fans worldwide: an official announcement has confirmed that Dorohedoro Season 3 is in production. The announcement was made alongside the streaming of the Dorohedoro Season 2 finale on May 27, which ended on a cliffhanger that left viewers even more eager to follow the story.

About Dorohedoro

Dorohedoro is adapted from the dark fantasy manga by Hayashida Q, serialized over 18 years in the “Gessan” magazine from Shogakukan, starting in 2000. The story follows Kaiman, a young man who has lost his memories and had his head transformed into that of a lizard by a sorcerer’s magic. He sets out alongside his close friend Nikaido to track down the sorcerer who cast the spell on him, hoping to reclaim his true face and memories.

With its uniquely bizarre world and narrative packed with grotesque imagery and dark humor, many people once believed this work was “impossible to animate” — yet in 2020, Season 1 aired on TV and became a massive hit, and most recently Season 2 began streaming on various platforms from April 1, running for a total of 11 episodes.

Director’s Special Illustration and Opening Theme MV

To celebrate the Season 2 finale and the Season 3 announcement, director Hayashi Yuichiro shared a special illustration with fans. The illustration features Haru, the demon girl, singing with excitement and anticipation for what comes next.

Additionally, an anime MV for the opening theme “Zettai MUST Danmen” by (K)NoW_NAME was unveiled. The MV weaves all 11 episodes of Season 2’s footage together with visuals from Season 1, set to the infectiously upbeat opening track — a dizzying, deeply unsettling experience that almost makes you afraid to blink. The song itself also hints that a “mystery” may be hidden within the lyrics.
