Hikaru Utada‘s official YouTube channel has released live performance footage of “Flavor Of Life -Ballad Version-“ from TBS program CDTV Live! Live!. The clip will be available for a limited period of four weeks.

The footage comes from the May 11, 2026 broadcast, featuring a version specially rearranged for the program. It is a rare performance that fans will not want to miss, and Utada’s name immediately rose into the top trends on X, formerly Twitter, on the day of the broadcast.

The channel had previously been releasing other live clips from the same program, including “Pappara Paradise” and “One Last Kiss”, further raising public interest in Hikaru Utada.

New Song “Pappara Paradise” Climbs the Charts

“Pappara Paradise” was released digitally on May 6, 2026. It reached No. 1 on several FM radio station charts and also ranked highly on multiple music charts in Japan.

The song has also been selected as the new ending theme for the anime “Chibi Maruko-chan” and is being used in a new commercial campaign for the tea beverage Ayataka, titled “Let’s Drink Tea at Home.”

7-Inch Vinyl and Remastered UTADA Releases Arrive June 24

“Pappara Paradise” will be released as a limited-production 7-inch vinyl on June 24, 2026, priced at 2,500 yen including tax. Store-specific bonuses are as follows:

  • Amazon.co.jp – mega jacket
  • Tower Records stores and online – orange marker
  • HMV stores and HMV&BOOKS online – pink marker
  • Rakuten Books – purple marker
  • Sony Music Shop – light blue marker
  • Participating general retailers – light green marker

On the same day, two remastered albums under the UTADA name, Exodus and This Is The One, will also be released in multiple formats, including LP, colored vinyl, and 2CD editions with lyrics and translations. The 2LP edition of Exodus is priced at 7,150 yen, while the LP edition of This Is The One is priced at 5,500 yen, both including tax.

A Legendary Artist Still Creating Phenomena

Hikaru Utada debuted in 1998 and set Japan’s all-time CD sales record with her first album, First Love. In 2024, she released her first best album, SCIENCE FICTION, and held her first nationwide tour in six years. In 2025, her collaboration with Kenshi Yonezu, “JANE DOE”, became an international hit, reaffirming her status as a leading artist both inside and outside Japan.
