Anime fans, get ready! Two beloved Japanese cartoon classics, Chibi Maruko-chan and Crayon Shin-chan, are coming together for the Chibi Maruko-chan & Crayon Shin-chan Okiraku Shoten POP UP SHOP. This marks the first nationwide event of its kind, opening at Tokyo Solamachi East Yard, 2nd floor, Booth 9, from June 4 to June 21, 2026.
About the Two Legendary Works
Chibi Maruko-chan, created by Momoko Sakura, tells the warm and funny everyday story of “Maruko,” a third-grade elementary school girl and the youngest daughter of the Sakura family living in Shimizu, Shizuoka Prefecture. The manga began serialization in Ribon magazine in 1986, and 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the original manga. Its TV anime has aired on Fuji TV every Sunday at 6:00 p.m. since 1990 and remains popular worldwide, including in Chinese-speaking regions.
Crayon Shin-chan follows Shinnosuke Nohara, an endlessly mischievous five-year-old boy, and his family as they constantly cause hilarious chaos. The year 2025 marked the 35th anniversary of the original manga’s serialization, and a new movie, “映画クレヨンしんちゃん 奇々怪々!オラの妖怪バケ~ション”, is set to open across Japan on July 31, 2026. The current manga series, Shin Crayon Shin-chan, is serialized on the Manga Crayon Shin-chan.com website, while the TV anime airs every Saturday at 4:30 p.m. on TV Asahi.
