The live-action series Konya mo Serial Killer to Machiawase, based on the original manga by Kon Iguchi and Yuji Nakamura, announced four additional cast members: Hirona Yamazaki, So Okuno, Masahiro Toda, and Reia Yonekura. The series will air on Kantele and Fuji TV in the Wednesday Drama Eleven slot starting July 1, 2026, every Wednesday at 23:00.
Synopsis
The series is a buddy suspense story following Shiro Isogai, a lone-wolf detective who dislikes working in groups, and Hinata Kuroi, a young woman with the special ability to see the “number of people killed” when she touches a murderer. The two secretly team up for revenge and face serial killers hiding in everyday life. Yu Yokoyama stars as Isogai, while Nagi Sekimizu plays Hinata.
New Cast and Roles
- Hirona Yamazaki as Kaede Tsuruoka – A detective in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigation Division. She was close friends with Azusa Kawada, Isogai’s fiancee who was murdered by a serial killer, and is also from Isogai’s generation.
- So Okuno as Shinichi Makino – A young police officer and Isogai’s junior in the investigation section of Ikebukuro South Police Station. This is an original character created for the drama and does not appear in the manga.
- Masahiro Toda as Daigo Satake – A captain in the investigation section of Ikebukuro South Police Station and Isogai’s senior.
- Reia Yonekura as Kozae Hasegawa – A young police officer from the same generation as Makino, also assigned to the investigation section of Ikebukuro South Police Station.

Hirona Yamazaki (Kaede Tsuruoka): “Since learning I would be part of this work, I began studying serial killers and criminal psychology. I feel like my worldview has expanded a great deal. Kaede is a detective who carries the pain of losing her best friend, but still relentlessly pursues the truth. I want to fully convey that sense of justice, and I will not disappoint either manga fans or new viewers.”
So Okuno (Shinichi Makino): “Makino is a character who does not exist in the original work, so I hope everyone watches to see what role he plays in the story. I hope I can fit in well with the rest of the cast, and I hope many people watch.”
Masahiro Toda (Daigo Satake): “The title is great because it is a ‘meeting’ with a serial killer, not a ‘chance encounter.’ A chance encounter would be terrifying! I will use my Showa-style detective spirit to catch the serial killers.”
Reia Yonekura (Kozae Hasegawa): “The tense and frightening atmosphere of this work is very compelling. Beyond the suspense, the characters’ emotions and relationships are just as interesting. I hope everyone also pays attention to Hasegawa’s inner struggle.”
