The staff of the TV anime Rakudai Kenja no Gakuin Musou: Nidome no Tensei, S-Rank Cheat Majutsushi Boukenroku revealed the official main PV and key visual. The anime is based on the original novel and manga by Arata Shiraishi and Kentaro, serialized in Square Enix’s Manga UP! magazine.
Main PV: Ephtal Can No Longer Hide His Power
The main PV opens with scenes from the past life of Ephtal, the great sage known as the “Thunder Emperor,” before shifting to the appearance of Fraser, his supportive half-brother, and Ephtal’s decision to enter a magic academy despite carrying limitations on his shoulders. A key highlight of the PV is the moment when Ephtal can no longer conceal his true abilities, drawing the attention of everyone around him. The video also shows Anastasia, who travels with him, and Merlin, a student he reunites with after 400 years apart.
Key Visual and Opening Theme
The main key visual depicts three characters: Ephtal, Anastasia, and Merlin, with the Seiryu dragon appearing behind them. The opening theme has been officially confirmed as “+ENCOUNT” by FLOW, a new song written specifically for the series.
FLOW said the song aims to convey the feeling of reaching toward the person one wants to become, even while feeling despair and regret when seeing the gap between oneself and others. The song reflects Ephtal’s journey to fulfill a dream left unfinished for more than 400 years. The group hopes fans enjoy it together with this great sage’s refreshing revenge adventure.
Synopsis
Ephtal, a great sage praised as the “Thunder Emperor,” realizes the limits of his own talent, falls into despair, and dies. He is then reborn in a world where magical civilization has greatly declined. Ephtal enters a magic academy and begins overturning the world’s established beliefs. This is an academy fantasy filled with adventure and satisfying revenge.
