Anime fans, get ready! The anime film 「鬼太郎誕生 ゲゲゲの謎」(Kitaro Tanjo: Gegege no Nazo) is launching a special collaboration campaign titled “ゲゲゲの湯” with the well-known hot spring and spa group 極楽湯 (Gokurakuyu)・RAKU SPA. The campaign will be held at 16 locations across Japan, running from June 18, 2026 through July 7, 2026.

About the film

「鬼太郎誕生 ゲゲゲの謎」 is a feature-length anime film released in November 2023 as a work commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of legendary creator Shigeru Mizuki. The story explores the secret behind Kitaro’s birth through the first meeting between Medama Oyaji in his past form and Mizuki, as well as the fate that awaits both fathers. The film won Best Animation at the 47th Japan Academy Prize and also received a special improved picture and sound version titled 「鬼太郎誕生 ゲゲゲの謎 真生版」.

Staff and cast

The film is directed by Gou Koga, who previously directed 「劇場版 ゲゲゲの鬼太郎 日本爆裂!!」. The screenplay is by Hiroyuki Yoshino, known for anime such as 「マクロスF」, while character design is handled by Toko Yatabe, who previously served as assistant director on 「シン・エヴァンゲリオン劇場版」.

The voice cast includes Toshihiko Seki as Kitaro’s father, formerly Medama Oyaji, and Hidenobu Kiuchi as Mizuki. Many other leading voice actors also appear, including Atsumi Tanezaki, Yumiko Kobayashi, Tetsu Shiratori, Nobuo Tobita, Yoko Soumi, Kazuya Nakai, Kazuhiro Yamaji, Yuko Minaguchi, Rie Kugimiya, Akira Ishida, Masaya Matsukaze, as well as cast members from the sixth TV anime season such as Miyuki Sawashiro, Masako Nozawa, Umeka Shouji and Toshio Furukawa.

Highlights of the “ゲゲゲの湯” event

Character-themed baths

The event will feature four types of collaboration baths. Each bath uses the image colors of Kitaro’s father and his companions to decorate the bathing area, along with specially designed tapestries. The bath themes will vary by location.

Special merchandise

Collaboration goods using special newly drawn artwork will be available, including:

• Muffler towel, available with an additional admission fee
• Acrylic stand
• Can badge
• Locker key-style keychain
• Onsen manju steamed buns
• Clear file set
• Soft plush dolls

There will also be a special bonus for customers who purchase goods in-store: sento-fuda-style stickers. All items will also go on sale online from noon on June 18, so fans outside the area will not have to miss out.

Collaboration menu

The lineup includes food and drinks themed after Kitaro’s father and Mizuki, plus special takeout menu items exclusive to RAKU CAFE and drinks with tumblers. Customers who order from the collaboration menu will receive a coaster as a bonus.

Seal rally and digital stamp rally

During the event, a seal rally will let visitors collect stickers and exchange them for coasters as follows:

• Collect 5 stickers to receive 1 coaster
• Collect 20 stickers to receive a full coaster set

A digital stamp rally will also be held. By scanning QR codes from posters inside the stores, visitors who collect every stamp can receive an original wallpaper as a prize.

Special in-store announcements

Throughout the event, visitors will hear special in-store announcements by Kitaro’s father, voiced by Toshihiko Seki, recorded specifically for this collaboration.

X (Twitter) and convenience store campaigns

Visitors who post about the event on X with the designated hashtag and show the post at reception will receive one illustration card and one lottery ticket for collaboration decorations. Collaboration bromide prints will also be available through multi-copy machines at FamilyMart and Lawson stores nationwide.
