To mark the 55th anniversary of the Lupin the Third anime, based on the original work by Monkey Punch, Japan will air a special program titled “Lupin the Third Masterpiece Selection” on Nippon TV and affiliated stations this October.
The key feature of the project is direct fan participation. Fans can vote for their favorite episodes through the official website, with voting having opened on June 10. The top-ranked episodes will be selected for broadcast in the program.
316 Episodes Covering the Whole Franchise
This vote is being described as the largest in the franchise’s history, collecting a total of 316 episodes from the main TV series, from Part 1 through Part 6, as well as the spin-off series Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine.
The Lupin the Third anime first aired on October 24, 1971, and has remained one of anime’s most beloved long-running franchises for more than half a century. Fans who want to take part can cast their vote through the series’ official website.
