The TV anime Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You, based on the manga by Jinushi, will officially begin airing on July 9, 2026. The second main promotional video has also been released.
2nd Main PV With Special Opening Theme
The new PV features “Ichijiku Kemuri” by Zutto Mayonaka de Iinoni., also known as Zutomayo, as the opening theme. The video shows Sasaki, an overworked office employee whose life has almost been consumed by work, and Yamada / Tayama, the supermarket cashier who becomes a source of comfort for him. The two often meet in the smoking area behind the store, where casual conversations slowly become something meaningful.
The end of the PV also introduces supporting characters including Goto, Ono, Maezawa, Obata, and Suzuki.
Pre-Broadcast ABEMA Special
A special program titled Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You Special Program will stream on the ABEMA Anime Channel on July 4 at 20:30. Main cast members Takuya Sato, Kinari Hoshi, and Nobuya Takahashi will discuss the story and characters, with playful activities themed around cocoa cigarettes.
Story
The story follows Sasaki, an exhausted office worker who regularly stops by a supermarket. There he meets Tayama, a young employee, and their conversations in the smoking area behind the store become a small but special part of both their lives. ABEMA has also been releasing a special early version since June 3, 2026, splitting episodes 1-6 into short videos of about 10 minutes each.
