Japanese publisher BNN will release Kayoko Ishikawa Design Works TEATRO (石川佳代子デザインワークス TEATRO), the debut art book from veteran animator Kayoko Ishikawa, on July 15. Ishikawa is widely known among anime fans for her design work on the Aikatsu! series.
A Career Spanning 500+ Works in 184 Pages
The book spans 184 pages and brings together more than 500 images representing the full breadth of Ishikawa’s craft — including character and prop design sheets, image boards, ending-sequence idea sketches, storyboards, layout originals, animation corrections, and licensed illustrations. The volume also features newly drawn artwork created exclusively for this release, alongside an interview and commentary written by Ishikawa herself.
Five Acts, One Career
The book is structured into five thematic “acts” (幕):
- Act 1: The Aikatsu! series
- Act 2: Sarazanmai
- Act 3: LUPIN the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine
- Act 4: MAPPA Works — covering nine productions: Zenshuu., Yuri!!! on ICE, Zombie Land Saga Revenge, Uchi Tama?! ~Uchi no Tama Shirimasen ka?~, Taiso Zamurai, RE-MAIN, Chainsaw Man, Bucchigiri?!, and Dance Dance Danseur
