The TV anime Kiru Ao (キルアオ), based on the manga by Fujimaki Tadatoshi, has announced that voice actress Hasegawa Ikumi will play Otohime Mai. Alongside the casting reveal, the production released a new “daily-life visual” showcasing the cast of characters in a lively scene inside their home economics club.
Who Is Otohime Mai?
Otohime Mai is a character with two distinct sides: the quiet and reserved “Chibi-hime” (Little Princess) and the bold, outgoing “Gyaru-hime” (Gal Princess). She is a member of the elite Genjuu-gumi (Unicorn) class at Rokkagakuen Middle School, and has earned the nickname “Mermaid Queen” thanks to her exceptional talent in marine sports and her encyclopedic knowledge of the sea.
Hasegawa Ikumi’s Comment
“I’m Hasegawa Ikumi, and I’ll be voicing Otohime Mai. She’s a genius at marine sports — though I grew up in a landlocked prefecture and have never tried any myself. At the start of the year, I found myself drawn to go see the ocean alone. Looking back, I wonder if Otohime was calling out to me… or if I was just tired. Otohime is a girl with two completely different personalities — ‘Chibi-hime’ and ‘Gyaru-hime’ — and it was so much fun bringing both of them to life! Please look forward to seeing how she gets involved with Juzo and the others!”
The Daily-Life Visual
The newly released illustration captures a fun moment in the home economics club room. Juzo holds a textbook in one hand while balancing a towering stack of pancakes in the other, as Mitsuoka Noren gleefully drenches them in syrup. Nearby, Nekota Kotatsu looks on in wide-eyed surprise. In the background, Tendo Tenma carries home economics club president Shiraishi Chisato in a princess carry, while Kohazame Shin peers down from the ceiling with a pacifier in his mouth. Outside the window, Rindo Kazuma and Eiji enjoy a friendly game of catch in the schoolyard.
