The official website for the television anime adaptation of Tanba and Yuunagi‘s light novel series The Insipid Prince’s Furtive Grab for The Throne (Saikyō Degarashi Ōji no Anyaku Teii Arasoi: Munō o Enjiru SS-Rank Ōji wa Kōi Keishō-sen o Kage kara Shihai Suru) has unveiled the anime’s second promotional video, a new key visual, theme songs, and a confirmed premiere date of July 6.

Theme Songs

Dance-vocal group BUDDiiS performs the opening theme “Script,” while idol group Kurawan handles the ending theme “Suteki na Kanchigai” (A Wonderful Mistake). The newly released promotional video previews the opening theme.

Broadcast Schedule

The anime premieres on July 6 on Tokyo MX at 8:57 p.m. JST, followed by a broadcast on BS Fuji at 24:00 JST (effectively July 7 at midnight). Streaming in Japan will be available on ABEMA, d Anime Store, U-NEXT, and Anime Hōdai starting July 6 at 9:30 p.m. JST.

Story

Arnold, the seventh Imperial Prince of the Adrasia Empire, has long been dismissed as “THE INSIPID PRINCE” — overshadowed by his twin brother, a genius revered by all. In truth, Arnold secretly operates as SILVER, one of only five SS-rank adventurers on the continent. The anime is produced at Maho Film with Yūji Yanase (By the Grace of the Gods, In the Land of Leadale, Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra) directing, Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (In the Land of Leadale, Hajime no Ippo Rising, Record of Ragnarok) handling series scripts, and Kazuko Tadano (Sailor Moon, Wedding Peach, Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens) designing the characters.

Source Material

Tanba originally published the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website beginning February 3, 2019. Kadokawa‘s Sneaker Bunko imprint released the first print volume that September, and the series has since grown to 16 volumes, with the latest shipping on April 1. Yukino Amagai‘s manga adaptation runs on Kadokawa’s Young Ace Up website, with the 10th compiled volume due on July 10.
