The staff behind the new Ahare! Meisaku-kun television anime released a promotional video and key visual on Friday, revealing that the band Frederic will perform the theme song “Nonsense Nonsense”. The video also confirms the series’ premiere date.

The new anime will consist of five-minute short episodes and is set to debut on July 5 at 24:45 JST (effectively July 6 at 12:45 a.m.) across TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, TV Aichi, TV Setouchi, TV Hokkaido, and TVQ Broadcasting Kyushu.

Returning crew members include director Taketo Shinkai, character designer Jun Oson, and animation studio Pie in the sky.
Synopsis
Long ago, a prestigious institution known as Ryugu Elementary School produced countless famous characters. One day, an ordinary boy named Matsuda Meisaku enrolls there. Surrounded by an eccentric cast — including the hyper-energetic airhead Sweetie, the wild Musubi (nicknamed “Onigiri”), the narcissistic self-proclaimed robot Nokio, and the blindingly fast Bolt — the question is whether Meisaku can graduate as a true masterpiece character.
Franchise History
The first Ahare! Meisaku-kun TV anime aired in April 2016 as part of NHK Educational TV’s Beat World variety program, running for 39 five-minute episodes. AnimeLog (Anilog) began streaming the series on its global YouTube channel in November 2020.
The sixth season ran from April 2021 through March of the following year, with Crunchyroll simulcasting it alongside the Japanese broadcast.
In April 2022, the production team launched a Makuake crowdfunding campaign for a new season, hitting its goal on the very first day. The campaign ultimately raised ¥19,938,500 (approximately US$145,800) before closing in June 2022, and that season premiered in August 2022.
The franchise also held its first-ever exhibition at the Shibuya PARCO building in Tokyo in November 2022, where an original exclusive anime short titled “Bolt, Bu Yamerutteyo” (Bolt, Said He Would Quit the Club) was screened.
