Anime studio MAPPA dropped the second teaser for the upcoming Chainsaw Man Assassins Arc anime during its live-streamed “15th Anniversary Lineup Reveal” event on Friday, simultaneously confirming the project’s main staff lineup.

Tatsuya Yoshihara, who directed Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, is returning to helm the new anime series at MAPPA. The confirmed staff is as follows:

Reze Arc Film’s Record-Breaking Run

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc opened in Japan on September 19, 2025, debuting at number one at the box office and ending Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle – Akaza Sairai‘s nine-week reign at the top. The film sold 807,000 tickets worth 1,251,178,500 yen (approximately US$8.46 million) in its opening weekend.

Sony Pictures Entertainment holds worldwide theatrical rights to the film. It opened in the U.S. and Canada on October 24 — ahead of its originally scheduled October 29 date — with early screenings for Crunchyroll members on October 22 and RealD 3D screenings also available. The film launched in the U.K. on October 29 and had already screened in more than 80 countries on September 24. In North America, the film earned an estimated US$17.25 million across 3,003 theaters in its opening weekend. Sony Pictures Entertainment released the film digitally on December 9.

About Chainsaw Man

The Chainsaw Man television anime series premiered on TV Tokyo and five affiliated channels, as well as on Amazon Prime Video, in October 2022. Crunchyroll streams the series in over 200 countries and territories worldwide.

The manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto (Fire Punch) launched in Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018. Its first part, the “Kōan” (Public Safety) arc, concluded in December 2020. The second part, “Gakkō-hen” (School Arc), began on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform in July 2022 and wrapped up on March 25, marking the end of the manga as a whole.

A stage play adaptation ran in Tokyo and Kyoto from September to October 2023, and a second stage play adapting the Reze Arc is scheduled to run in Tokyo and Kyoto from July to August.
