To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Chibi Maruko-chan, the beloved manga by Sakura Momoko, a special limited-time event titled “Sakura Momoko Yumeiro Shoten” will be held at Takashimaya Osaka (7th floor event hall) from July 9 to 20, 2026. The event will also spotlight Sakura’s other popular work, Coji-Coji.
Two Beloved Classics
Chibi Maruko-chan follows the everyday life of third-grader Maruko (Sakura Momoko) alongside her family and friends, blending warmth and gentle humor across 18 manga volumes. The TV anime adaptation launched in 1990 and has since been broadcast worldwide.
Coji-Coji, meanwhile, is a fantasy-meets-nonsense-comedy series following the space creature Coji-Coji and his eccentric companions. Its TV anime began in 1997 and ran for a total of 101 episodes.
Over 70 New Items, Including the Exotic Series
The event will mark the debut of more than 70 brand-new products, headlined by the “Exotic Series” — a line of merchandise featuring designs with a distinctly foreign, colorful flair. Items available for early purchase include:

Event-exclusive items will also be on offer, including a mini handkerchief (reading motif) and a toumei acrylic coaster featuring Coji-Coji.
Photo Spot
A vibrant, Exotic-themed photo spot will be set up inside the venue, giving fans a fun backdrop for photos with family and friends.
Special Purchase Bonus
Visitors who spend ¥4,000 (tax included) or more in a single receipt on event merchandise will receive one randomly selected can badge from a set of six designs.
