About the Series
Based on the manga by Kuze Ran, serialized in Weekly Shōnen Magazine (Kodansha), the series has surpassed a cumulative 2.8 million copies in print. The story is a romantic comedy centered on the “popular girl × ascetic boy” dynamic. Kawai Mona is a beautiful, stylish girl who effortlessly attracts admirers wherever she goes — until transfer student Kuroiwa Medaka arrives and pays her absolutely no attention. Determined to win him over, Mona throws everything she has at him, sometimes resorting to surprisingly bold tactics.

The DARUMA Awards are presented annually at Japan Expo, one of Europe’s largest Japanese culture events, held in Paris, France. The awards carry significant influence in France’s anime and manga industry, with a jury of industry professionals selecting nominees across 20 categories.
