Comments from the Creators
“I’m so genuinely happy that ‘Go-Ichikyoku’ is getting an anime!! Thank you so much!! My starting point was wanting to draw a mahjong manga that’s easy to read and enjoyable even if you don’t know mahjong. I’m looking forward to even more people getting to see it through the anime. I’m so excited to see Sae and the others moving and with voices — and to see their avatar forms too. I’m excited about everything!”
— Utsuhana Tsukasa, original manga author
“I’ve been playing mahjong for a long time, so when I got the offer I thought, ‘My passion has become my job!’ Thank you so much for choosing me. I think it’s a wonderful story that anyone can enjoy — whether you don’t know mahjong at all, you’re a beginner, or you’re a seasoned player. I really want everyone to watch Sae and the others having a great time playing mahjong together. I’m just as deep into it as Sae — I even do a morning three-player mahjong fortune reading every day. (laughs)”
— Kaori, director
Utsuhana Tsukasa also provided a celebratory illustration featuring the main characters Sae, Chisei, Nonoka, and Junrei. Further details, including the broadcast window, are yet to be announced.
