The official website for the television anime adaptation of Ryon‘s manga Jirai nandesu ka? Chihara-san (Are You a Landmine, Chihara-san?) updated on Thursday with a wave of new announcements: additional cast and staff members, a delay to January 2027, and the launch of a tie-in music project.

New Cast Members

Two new voice actors have been added to the cast, both playing childhood friends of protagonist Kuroki:

  • Tomokazu Sugita as Hibiya, Kuroki’s friend since nursery school
  • Daisuke Ono as Kazami, another of Kuroki’s friends since nursery school

New Staff Members

  • Art Director: Hisae Arimoto
  • Color Key Artist: Emi Kadono
  • Compositing Director of Photography: Naotaka Watanabe
  • Sound Director: Daiki Hachimaki
  • Sound Effects: Akiko Mutō
  • Sound Production: IMAGICA EMS

Delayed to January 2027

The anime will air in the “Super Animeism Turbo” programming block on MBS, TBS, and 26 affiliated channels, with a Thursday 0:26 timeslot (effectively Friday at 12:26 a.m.) beginning in January 2027. The production had previously announced a 2026 broadcast window before the delay.

Mai Chihara Music Project

Ahead of the anime’s premiere, the franchise is launching a music project centered on lead character Mai Chihara, accompanied by a teaser video. Chihara’s debut digital single, “Alien Alien,” will go on sale on July 25. The track is a cover of the signature song by Vocaloid producer and musician Nayutalien.

Within the story, Chihara’s friend Chinatsu Iwakura serves as her general producer, and Natsumi Sano designed Mai Chihara’s costume as a musical artist.

Story Synopsis

At the start of a new semester, high school junior Kuroki finds himself seated next to the girl everyone whispers about: Mai Chihara. With her gothic fashion, jet-black hair, and piercing gaze, Chihara has a reputation as a “jirai-kei” girl — a hyper-feminine, dark aesthetic often associated with yandere tendencies and volatile personalities. But when Kuroki accidentally catches her attention, he discovers she’s far less unstable than rumor suggests. Beneath the intimidating exterior is a surprisingly sweet girl… if a little unusual.

Main Cast & Staff

Sayumi Suzushiro voices Mai Chihara and Kazuki Ura voices Kuroki — both reprising their roles from earlier voice comic adaptations of the manga.
