The production team behind Cyborg 009: Nemesis — the new anime adaptation of Shōtarō Ishinomori‘s classic manga, produced by Ishimori Production — released the series’ main promotional video on Thursday. The trailer unveils the ending theme song “Climal” by Sukima Switch, a track the band originally released in July 2024, and officially confirms “Taga Tame ni” (For Whom) performed by Kyōko of the rock band Barbee Boys as the opening theme.
“Taga Tame ni” carries a storied legacy: it was originally used in the 1979 Cyborg 009 television anime, performed by Ken Narita and Koorogi ’73, with lyrics penned by Ishinomori himself.

Franchise Background
Ishinomori launched the original Cyborg 009 manga in Shōnengahōsha’s Weekly King magazine in July 1964. The series has since been adapted into television anime in 1968, 1979, and 2001, and theatrical films in 1966, 1967, and 1980. More recent adaptations include the 009 Re:Cyborg film (2012), Cyborg 009 Call of Justice (2016), and a crossover OVA with Devilman in 2015. In April 2024, scriptwriter Masaki Tsuji and artist Masato Hayase launched a new manga, Cyborg 009 Taiheiyō no Bōrei (Cyborg 009: Ghost of the Pacific).
