Bandai Namco Filmworks announced on Friday that the seventh installment of Yamato yo Towa ni: Rebel 3199 (Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199), the ongoing Space Battleship Yamato remake project, is titled Nijiiro no Rinne (Rainbow-Colored Reincarnation). The film is set to open in Japanese theaters on October 30. A teaser visual by concept artist Kia Asamiya was also unveiled alongside the announcement.
Series Timeline
The sixth film, Aoi Meikyū (Blue Labyrinth), opened on June 26. In its story, the Yamato passes through a space-time node that transports the main characters to Tokyo in the year 2026, during the present-day Reiwa era.

- The fourth film, Mizuiro no Sasha (The Aqua Sasha), opened in October 2025; its Blu-ray Disc and DVD shipped in December 2025.
- The third film, Gunjō no Asteroid (Ultramarine Asteroid), opened in April 2025.
- The second film, Sekijitsu no Shutsugeki (The Assault of the Burning Sun), premiered in November 2024, earning 64,118,600 yen (approx. US$410,028) in its opening three days. It later shipped on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in January 2025. Megumi Han took over the role of Sasha in this film, a part originally played by her mother Keiko Han in the original Be Forever Yamato.
- The first film, Kuro no Shinryaku (Dark Invasion), opened in July 2024 and earned 58,863,050 yen (approx. US$376,419) in its first three days.
Staff
Naomichi Yamato (From the New World, episode director on Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) is directing the series. Harutoshi Fukui serves as supervising director in addition to his roles as head writer and scriptwriter, with Hideki Oka returning as co-writer. Nobuteru Yūki is back as character designer, while Junichirō Tamamori, Mika Akitaka, and Atsushi Ishizu handle mechanical designs. Hiroyuki Gotō is CG producer, Shōsuke Uechi is CG director, and Tomohiro Yoshida serves as sound director.
Music is composed by Akira Miyagawa alongside Shū Kanematsu (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!, The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses). The late Hiroshi Miyagawa, Akira’s father and the original Space Battleship Yamato composer, is also credited for music. The late producer Yoshinobu Nishizaki is credited for the original work, and his son Shōji Nishizaki serves as chief production supervisor and copyright chief supervisor.
Background
Rebel 3199 is a sequel to Uchū Senkan Yamato 2205: Aratanaru Tabidachi – Kōshō -STASHA- (Space Battleship Yamato 2205: The New Voyage Part II: Stasha), which opened in February 2022.
