Story
The film picks up where the TV series left off. After protagonist Yuuki survives the so-called “thirty-game jinx” — an arbitrary yet very real threshold at which long-time death game survivors see their odds of survival plummet — she finds herself on a remote island in the middle of the ocean alongside seven other players, one of whom she recognizes. The game awaiting them is called “Cloudy Beach.”

The film reunites the core creative team from the TV series. About the Source Material
The anime is based on the light novel series Shibō Yūgi de Meshi o Kuu by writer Yūshi Ukai and illustrator Nekometal. The TV anime premiered on January 7 with a 60-minute first episode; Crunchyroll streamed it with a same-day English dub, and Netflix also carries the series.
Kadokawa’s MF Bunko J imprint published the first novel volume in November 2022, after the series won the Excellence Award at the 18th MF Bunko J Light Novel Newcomer Award. The series currently runs to ten volumes, with the tenth shipping on June 25. It also ranked #1 in the New Title category of Takarajimasha’s Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! 2024. A manga adaptation by Banzai Kotobuki Daienkai launched in Kadokawa’s Comp Ace magazine in April 2023 and has been collected into five volumes. Yen Press holds the English-language license for the light novel series.
