RICO NASTY Contributes Theme Song
Rapper RICO NASTY wrote and performed “YOU CAN’T RUN FROM ME” for the anime. The track appeared in the series’ second teaser trailer.
Staff and Series Direction
Kai Ikarashi, who served as storyboard artist, animation director, animator, and prop designer on the first series, makes his directorial debut helming this new installment. Bartosz Sztybor, producer and writer on the original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, returns in the same writing capacity, while Ichigo Kanno — animation director and key animator on the first series — steps up as lead character designer. Masahiko Otsuka is also back as scriptwriter.
The staff describe the new series as follows:
It presents a new standalone 10-episode story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077 — a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge. When the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?
The series will stream on Netflix.
Home Video Releases
Aniplex of America will release the series as a complete Blu-ray Disc set in North America on October 28. Anime Limited and Plaion Pictures will handle home video distribution across Europe, and Sugoi Co will release the series in Australia and New Zealand.
Background and Prequel Manga
The original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, produced by Studio Trigger and based on CD PROJEKT RED‘s Cyberpunk 2077 game, debuted on Netflix in September 2022. The game itself draws from Mike Pondsmith‘s Cyberpunk tabletop RPG series.
A prequel manga, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness, illustrated by Asano (known for the BNA: Brand New Animal manga) and written by Bartosz Sztybor, launched on the Comic Alive+ website in December 2024. The manga is being released in seven languages beyond Japanese, with Dark Horse publishing the English print edition.
