TV anime Toaru Anbu no Shoujo Kyousei (ITEM) is set to premiere on October 9, 2026 at 24:30 on TOKYO MX. The production has also unveiled a main PV along with opening and ending theme details.
Main PV: ITEM Operates in the Shadows
Set in Academy City — a metropolis where roughly 80% of the population are students — the story follows ITEM, an elite dark-side unit that handles dirty jobs the city can never acknowledge publicly. The main PV plunges viewers into a research facility where esper abilities are developed, showing ITEM in full operation: Mugino Shizuri delivering a ferocious punch, the explosive aftermath of Frenda Seivelun‘s handiwork, and bodies of facility personnel strewn across the floor. Juxtaposed against this brutal carnage is the squad’s breezy, irreverent banter — a tonal contrast that defines the series. The PV also offers the first proper look at Hanano Chōbi, ITEM’s fifth member, whose arrival hints at turbulence ahead.
Opening and Ending Themes
The opening theme, 「Ghost Sequence」, is performed by East Of Eden. The ending theme, 「原子崩し（メルトダウナー）」, is handled by Kishida Kyoudan & THE Akeboshi Rockets, who previously contributed the first-cour ending to Toaru Kagaku no Railgun T — marking their return to the “Toaru” franchise.

The series is a spinoff within the “Toaru” franchise. Nagai Tatsuyuki, who directed Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, returns to helm the project. Kimoto Shigeki handles character design, and J.C.STAFF — the studio behind every animated entry in the “Toaru” series — produces the animation.
