Crunchyroll announced at Anime Expo on Friday that it will begin streaming Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle – Akaza Sairai — the first entry in the Infinity Castle trilogy — on July 28, available worldwide outside of Japan and Mainland China. The platform will carry the film under the title Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle I.

Digital Purchase Also Available July 28

Alongside the Crunchyroll stream, the film will be available for digital purchase on the same date through Apple TV, Prime Video, Google Play, YouTube, and Fandango.

The film will be offered in Japanese with English subtitles as well as an English dub. Additional dub languages include Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Castilian Spanish, Catalan, Russian, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, and Polish. Subtitle options cover Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Castilian Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Polish, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and Melayu.

Record-Breaking Box Office Run

The film opened in Japan on July 18, 2025, and screened for 266 days before closing on April 9. It sold over 27.4 million tickets in Japan for a total gross of ¥40,200,019,000 (approximately US$252.5 million).

By its 60th day in Japanese theaters (September 15, 2025), the film had already earned ¥33,056,606,000 (about US$224 million) from 23 million tickets sold — enough to overtake Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli’s 2001 classic Spirited Away and become the second highest-earning film of all time at the Japanese box office.

Globally, the film has sold approximately 98.5 million tickets for a total of ¥117,917,539,329 (about US$740.5 million), making it the first Japanese film ever to surpass ¥100 billion in worldwide earnings.

According to Box Office Mojo, the film earned US$718,491,762 worldwide in 2025, ranking it seventh among the top-grossing films globally that year. It was also the #2 animated film in the United States in 2025 (ranking #18 overall domestically with US$134,487,320) and the #3 animated film worldwide.

The film first screened in the U.S. and Canada on September 12, with a return engagement beginning March 6. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment also brought the film to SCREENX multi-projection screens in North America for the first time.

Awards Recognition

The film has earned widespread critical recognition in addition to its commercial success:

  • Best Animated Film — 49th Japan Academy Film Prizes (March 13)
  • Animation of the Year — Film — Tokyo Anime Award Festival (TAAF), February
  • Honorary “Animation is Cinema” Award — 9th Annual Astra Film Awards

The film was also nominated for Best Motion Picture – Animated at the 83rd Golden Globes and Best International Animated Film at the Saturn Awards.

Franchise Context

Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, released in October 2020, remains the all-time highest-earning film in Japan with a total gross of ¥40.75 billion (approximately US$255.3 million at current exchange rates).
