Crunchyroll announced during its panel at Anime Expo on Friday that the Solo Leveling anime franchise is expanding to the big screen with a new film titled Solo Leveling: Beyond the System. The film picks up where the second season left off and is currently in production. A promotional concept video and teaser visual were shared alongside the announcement.
Staff & Production
Studio A-1 Pictures is returning to handle animation duties. The film is co-produced by Crunchyroll, Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C MEDIA, and Kakao Piccoma.
- Tao Tajima is directing and also serves as director of photography, editor, and colorist.
- Tomoko Sudo returns as character designer and key animator.
Series Background
The Solo Leveling anime is based on the webtoon by writer Chugong and the late artist DUBU (REDICE STUDIO). The first season premiered in Japan in January 2024, with Crunchyroll adding an English dub the same month.
A compilation film, Solo Leveling -ReAwakening-, recapping Season 1 and previewing the first two episodes of Season 2, screened in Japan from November to December 2024. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures brought the film to select U.S. and Canadian theaters in December 2024. The second season then debuted in January 2025, with Crunchyroll streaming both the original and an English dub.

The webtoon adaptation of Chugong’s Solo Leveling novel series, illustrated by DUBU, ran on WEBTOON from March 2018 to December 2021. Yen Press publishes the manhwa and original novel in English print, while Kadokawa publishes the webtoon in Japan as Ore Dake Level-Up na Ken. A Korean live-action adaptation is also in the works.
On the gaming front, Solo Leveling: Arise launched on Android, iOS, and Windows in May 2024, and Netmarble’s Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE launched on Xbox Series X|S (including Xbox Cloud) and PC via Steam last November.
