Anime Expo 2026 has set a new all-time attendance record, welcoming 422,000 turnstile attendees to this year’s event — surpassing all previous years and cementing the convention’s status as the largest anime event in the Western world.
The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA), which organizes the event, announced that Anime Expo 2026 generated an estimated economic impact of more than US$115 million for the greater Los Angeles area — up from approximately US$110 million the previous year.
This year’s edition also marked a milestone occasion: the 35th anniversary of Anime Expo, which has grown from a modest gathering into one of the premier anime conventions on the global stage.
Anime Expo 2026 Venues
The event ran from July 2–5 (Thursday through Sunday) at the Los Angeles Convention Center, with programming and activations also spread across several nearby venues, including:

- The Novo
- Peacock Place
- L.A. LIVE
- Figueroa Street
Anime Expo 2027 Dates Announced
Anime Expo 2027 will once again be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, scheduled for July 2–5, 2027 (Friday through Monday). The SPJA confirmed that credentials for the event will go on sale in early 2027.
