MAYLA Launches Gekijouban Mononoke Chapter 3: Jashin Collab Skirts — Last Day to Order!
Japanese fashion brand MAYLA — known for its tagline “raises your body temperature by 2°C” — has unveiled a special collaborative skirt collection inspired by the theatrical anime film Gekijouban Mononoke Chapter 3: Jashin (劇場版モノノ怪 第三章 蛇神). The designs blend the elegance of traditional Japanese washoku aesthetics with a contemporary Western fashion sensibility. Pre-orders are open now and close on July 16, 2026 at 5:00 PM JST.
About Mononoke
Mononoke originated as a spinoff of the “Bakeneko” arc from the 2006 anthology series Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales, before expanding into its own TV anime series the following year. The franchise has maintained a devoted fanbase ever since. The story follows a mysterious wanderer known only as the Medicine Seller (薬売り), who travels the land exorcising mononoke — supernatural beings born from human emotion and grudges.
A theatrical trilogy set within the Ōoku (the shogun’s inner palace) launched in 2024. Gekijouban Mononoke: Karakasa opened in July 2024, followed by Gekijouban Mononoke Chapter 2: Hinezumi in March 2025. The concluding chapter, Gekijouban Mononoke Chapter 3: Jashin, depicting the final “Rite of Salvation,” has been in cinemas since May 29, 2025.
The Two Skirt Models
The collection is titled 「劇場版モノノ怪 第三章 蛇神 アイコニック スカート」 and comes in two variants:
Medicine Seller Model [NV]
Crafted from an original MAYLA textile, this skirt weaves in motifs drawn directly from the Medicine Seller’s world: scales, paper talismans, a mirror, and the decorative elements of his traveling pack. The delicate fabric evokes the texture of washi paper, with multi-layered coloring that creates an atmosphere where fantasy and reality intertwine. The color palette follows the anime’s own settings and is structured to evoke the series’ central concepts of Katachi (Form), Makoto (Truth), and Kotowari (Reason).
Kamigi Model [WH]
This variant combines the facial markings of the divine figure, the halo of the demon-slaying sword, swirling clouds, and background motifs into a psychedelic, mystical composition. Layers of crimson bleeding across the fine fabric — like ink soaking into washi — recreate the film’s signature blend of unease and beauty in a single fantastical garment.
Shared Design Details
- Both models feature a tie-back ribbon at the rear, evoking the obi sash of a kimono, adding a subtle Japanese accent and an air of mystery from behind.
- A metal motif at the waist references the Medicine Seller’s role as a guide to the mononoke.
- A chain that can be draped from the back ribbon symbolizes the themes of enishi (fate/connection) and inga (karma/causality) central to the story.
