A special collab gravure shoot for the anime Yani Neko (ヤニねこ) has taken social media by storm after appearing in Young Magazine Issue 34. The spread features hyper-realistic recreations of protagonist Sato Yaniko and the Landlord, sending fans into a frenzy.
What Is Yani Neko?
Based on the manga by Nyannyan Factory, serialised in Kodansha’s Young Magazine, Yani Neko is a comedy about a lovably hopeless cigarette-addicted beast-man cat living a lazy, smoke-filled daily life in a world where humans and beast-people coexist. The series went viral on social media for being “kind of gross but oddly encouraging,” and has since been adapted into a TV anime that began airing on 2 July 2026 on TOKYO MX, BS11, and AT-X.
Shinozaki Kokoro Brings Yaniko to Life
Cosplayer Shinozaki Kokoro portrays Yaniko in the shoot, faithfully recreating scenes from Volume 1 and embodying the character’s famously voluptuous figure — often described in-series as an “ecchi cat.” The Young Magazine editorial team’s official X account teased part of the spread, while Shinozaki herself posted individual shots on her own X, urging fans to pick up the issue and see for themselves.
Fan reactions poured in, including:
- “This Yaniko actually looks like she’d smell good.”
- “Kokoro’s cat-like gaze really matches Yaniko’s character — it feels like the real thing, not just a collab.”
- “Found this during my part-time shift — perfect casting, absolutely love it.”
- “Yani-chan is way too big!”

The Real Landlord Shows Up — Voice Actor Inada Toru Steals the Show
The gravure’s biggest talking point, however, is the Landlord’s section. Rather than a cosplayer, the role is filled by voice actor Inada Toru — the very man who voices the Landlord in the anime itself.
Inada shared behind-the-scenes details on his X account, revealing that the outfit he wore was his own personal clothing. The team suggested he wear something he was comfortable in, and it turned out the clothes he brought from home were nearly identical to what the stylist had prepared. He joked that he now has two Landlord outfits sitting at home.
The surreal situation of a voice actor essentially cosplaying as himself sent fans into hysterics:
- “That’s literally just him!!”
- “I burst out laughing when I saw the actual Landlord showed up.”
- “Bringing the real thing is against the rules, surely.”
- “Inada-san’s resemblance to the Landlord is uncanny (playing dumb).”
- “I thought it was the character, then realised it was actually the voice actor.”
- “The Landlord looks just like Inada Toru, huh.”

Young Magazine Issue 34, featuring the collab gravure, has been on sale since 21 July 2026. The anime Yani Neko is currently airing on TOKYO MX, BS11, and AT-X from 2 July 2026.
