Crunchyroll has added the special episodes of Kamisama Kiss to its streaming library, giving fans a chance to catch up on bonus content tied to the beloved series.
About the Anime
The Kamisama Kiss anime spans two seasons, both of which were streamed by Funimation as they aired in Japan and later released on home video. Beyond the main series, the manga also inspired a run of four OADs (Original Animation Discs), each bundled with compiled manga volumes 22 through 25.
In December 2016, a special “Volume 25.5” official fanbook was released, packaged with a DVD containing an original anime and a 32-page epilogue manga chapter, rounding out the story for dedicated fans.
About the Manga
The original manga was created by Julietta Suzuki and launched in Hana to Yume magazine in 2008. The series concluded in May 2016 at 25 volumes. Viz Media publishes the English edition. A spinoff chapter was also released in January 2020.
Story Synopsis
The story follows Nanami, a girl left homeless after her father abandons her. A chance encounter leads her to a man who offers her a place to stay — which turns out to be a Shinto shrine. The man is a deity who transfers both his divine status and his yōkai to Nanami. That yōkai, Tomoe, can only be bound to his new master through a contract sealed in one way: with a kiss.
Creator’s Latest Work
Julietta Suzuki’s newest manga, Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite (Oshi ni Amagami), launched in Hana to Yume in November 2022.
