The official website for the television anime of The Lonely Snow Widow and the Cursed Ring (Japanese title: Hitozukiai ga Nigate na Mibōjin no Yuki Onna-san to Noroi no Yubiwa) announced on Friday that the series will begin airing in Japan this October on Tokyo MX and BS11. Streaming platform OceanVeil will carry the series this fall. The anime’s English title differs slightly from that of the source manga.
The series is based on the adult dōjin manga by artist Puuzaki Puuna (also known as Puu no Puupuupuu or Zeroshiki Kōichi). The manga currently spans two full-color volumes; Irodori Comics and Coolmic have both released English-language digital editions.
In the anime’s announcement, Puuzaki Puuna noted that this marks the first time an adult dōjin manga has been adapted directly into a TV anime without a separate commercial version being produced first — previous adaptations of adult dōjin works have all been OVAs. The creator also confirmed that the TV anime will feature an original story distinct from the source manga.
Story
In a modern world where humans, yōkai, and other races coexist, Satoru, an apartment building manager, accidentally angers Mifuyu, a snow woman (yuki-onna) who lives in the building and is his secret crush. Desperate to make things right, he puts on a mysterious ring said to aid communication with yōkai — only to find that Mifuyu, normally shy and socially withdrawn, suddenly becomes intensely forward toward him. What lies ahead for a socially aloof widowed snow woman and the young man who wants to support her, as their encounters are driven by the ring’s power…?
