Crunchyroll has officially confirmed that the Korean-animated film Your Letter, based on the popular WEBTOON series of the same name, will join its theatrical event program Crunchyroll Anime Nights. The film will screen in Korean with English subtitles across the United States and Canada for one night only on August 17. Tickets are already on sale.
Japanese Release Starring Nako Yabuki and Kenshō Ono
The film is also set to open in Japan on September 25 under the title En no Tegami, featuring a full Japanese dub. Talent Nako Yabuki and voice actor Kenshō Ono star in the Japanese-language version. Distributor CoMix Wave Films has already released the film’s main Japanese trailer ahead of its theatrical debut.
Awards and Accolades
Your Letter originally opened in South Korea on October 1, directed by Yong-Hwan Kim. The film took home three prizes at the Bucheon International Animation Festival, including the Jury Award for Feature Film, Best Music, and Best Technical Achievement.
Synopsis
Sori is a kind-hearted and principled middle schooler whose instinct to defend others makes her a target for bullying. After transferring to a new school hoping for a fresh start, she finds history beginning to repeat itself — until a mysterious trail of letters draws her into a hidden world beneath the surface of her new school. The anonymous sender appears to be a guardian of sorts, but their identity and motives remain a mystery. With each letter, secrets are uncovered and friendships are forged, as Sori discovers the value of connection and the good in the people around her.
About the Webtoon
The Your Letter webtoon was drawn by Hyeon A Cho and concluded in 2019, earning a near-perfect rating of 9.98 throughout its run. The English version remains available on the WEBTOON platform. Ize Press released a single-volume print edition in July 2024, and the series has also received a nomination for a Harvey Award this year.
