A new set of adorable merchandise has been announced for fans of Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica (魔法少女まどか☆マギカ): the withCAT Eye Mask Plush Keychain Plus series, featuring all five main characters reimagined as cats. The items are scheduled to go on sale in late October 2026.
What Is withCAT?
withCAT is a cat-themed merchandise line designed so fans can carry their favourite characters with them in a subtle, stylish way. Each plush keychain comes with a swappable eye mask that lets you change the character’s expression, as well as a wire-reinforced tail that can be bent into different poses, allowing the figure to stand on its own.
This Plus edition adds an extra layer of fun: each keychain includes detachable weapon accessories unique to each character, opening up even more ways to display and play with them.
About Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica
Originally broadcast as a TV anime series in 2011, Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica became a landmark title in the medium. The story follows Kaname Madoka, an ordinary second-year middle school student, whose life changes when she is offered the chance to become a magical girl. The series was directed by Shinbo Akiyuki, written by Urobuchi Gen (Nitroplus), and features original character designs by Aoki Ume.
The show’s blend of charming slice-of-life moments and unpredictable, high-stakes drama — brought to life through Shaft‘s distinctive animation, the avant-garde visual design of Gekidan Inu Curry, and the dramatic score by Kajiura Yuki — earned it widespread critical acclaim across multiple fields.
In 2012, the TV series was re-edited into two theatrical films: [Part 1] Hajimari no Monogatari and [Part 2] Eien no Monogatari. These were followed in 2013 by the all-new sequel film [New Chapter] Hangyaku no Monogatari, which became the first late-night anime theatrical release to gross over ¥2 billion at the box office.
The franchise’s newest chapter, Gekijouban Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica〈Walpurgis no Kaiten〉 — a direct continuation of Hangyaku no Monogatari — is set to open in Japanese cinemas on 28 August 2026, following an earlier delay.
