Anime NYC has announced a trio of major events scheduled for August 22, including a panel dedicated to Big West and the Macross franchise, an English dub premiere for the Go Forward (Massugu ni Ikō) television anime, and the world premiere of the English dub for the film Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram (Detective Conan: Hyakuman Doru no Michishirube).
Big West and Macross Panel
The Big West panel will spotlight the Macross franchise with updates on upcoming merchandise and projects. The event will also include a feature screening of Macross Delta the Movie: Passionate Walkūre with English subtitles. While the film is a compilation of the Macross Delta television series, it features newly added scenes that expand the story along with additional songs. The film originally opened in Japan in 2018.
Go Forward English Dub Premiere
SkySet Entertainment, which announced the English dub back in May, will screen the dubbed first episode of Go Forward at the convention, followed by a Q&A session with dub director Phebe Fabacher. SkySet plans to stream both the main series and its sequel, Massugu ni Ikō: Melon Pan-hen, with the dub set to release in late summer. The original Go Forward anime aired in 2003 for four episodes, while the sequel followed in 2004 with five episodes.
Detective Conan Film 27 English Dub World Premiere
Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram, the 27th entry in the Detective Conan film franchise, opened in Japan in April 2024 to record-breaking results. It sold 2,274,333 tickets and earned ¥3,352,494,500 (approximately US$21.7 million) in its first three days, making it the highest-grossing film in the franchise to date. The film previously held its U.S. premiere at Anime Expo on July 4, and Anime NYC will now host the world premiere of its English dub.
