The TV anime Meitantei Precure! (名探偵プリキュア！) has revealed a wave of new information, headlined by the debut of Cure Arcana — a dramatic form change for the villain character Cure Arcana Shadow.
Cure Arcana Shadow Transforms into Cure Arcana
Cure Arcana Shadow is an enemy Precure affiliated with the phantom thief group Phantom, and as of Episode 29 — which aired on August 16 — she remains opposed to the series’ three hero Cures. The form change sees her shift from a black-dominant design to a striking white-based aesthetic as Cure Arcana. Even the pendant worn by her civilian identity, Mori A Ruruka, has changed along with the transformation. Her official catchphrase has also been revealed: “The white light that illuminates the truth — Great Detective, Cure Arcana!” The character is voiced by Nao Higashiyama (東山奈央).
Star Kiraring Form for All Four Cures
Alongside Cure Arcana’s debut, the new Star Kiraring Form shared by Cure Answer, Cure Mystic, Cure Éclair, and Cure Arcana was also unveiled. The form features a unified fantastical design across all four characters, including a large pink ribbon extending from a brooch at the chest, a purple veil, star motifs, and matching rings. The design was conceived by Akane Yano (矢野茜), the series’ character designer.
New Ending Theme and Toy Announcements
Beginning with the August 16 broadcast, the anime has switched to its second-cour ending theme, “Itsuka Wakaru ☆ Kitto Aeru”, performed by Akane Kumada (熊田茜音) and Yuka Masui (増井優花). A creditless version and a dance lesson video are now available on YouTube. New toy releases were also announced, including Cure Arcana’s transformation item and power-up transformation items for all four Cures.
Future Form and Upcoming Film
Looking ahead to the film Meitantei Precure the Movie: The Mysterious Garden and the Secret of Two (映画名探偵プリキュア！不思議な庭と2人の秘密), set to open on September 18, the Future Form of Cure Answer has been revealed as the first of the four. The design features graceful golden wings and was created by Emiko Miyamoto (宮本絵美子), the film’s character designer. Future Forms for Cure Mystic, Cure Éclair, and Cure Arcana will be announced at a later date.
A Final Visual for the film has also been released, now incorporating Cure Arcana into the main promotional artwork. Additionally, the character design advance movie ticket cards have been updated to include a Cure Arcana design, with sales beginning August 16.
