Comedy duo Cotton, consisting of Nishimura Shinji and Kyon, have been confirmed as guest voice actors in Meitantei Precure! Fushigi na Niwa to Futari no Himitsu (Detective Precure! The Mysterious Garden and the Two’s Secret), set to open nationwide in Japan on September 18, 2026.
How the Casting Came About
Cotton first appeared as special support guests at the Meitantei Precure! unveiling press conference held in January. The producer was so impressed by the duo’s enthusiasm at the event that they personally reached out with an offer to join the film.
Their Role: The “Damedame”
Nishimura and Kyon voice a mysterious creature called the Damedame (ダメダメ), which hurls X-shaped marks at objects to render them immobile or unusable. The Precure team must solve the “X-mark incidents” caused by these creatures throughout the film.
Because the Damedame communicates only through cries rather than words, the sole “line” both actors deliver is the word dame (ダメ, meaning “no good”) — which appears a total of 196 times in the script. They also voiced three different sizes of Damedame: small, medium, and large.
In addition to the Damedame role, Nishimura — a former announcer — drew on that experience to play a TV host, while Kyon took on the role of a TV commentator.

“When I heard ‘there’s a Precure voice-acting job for you,’ I was momentarily shocked — ‘Are we playing the Precure themselves!?’ (laughs). I’m genuinely happy to be part of a series loved by so many people. The Damedame we play only says ‘dame,’ but we threw ourselves into the role so hard that even we were surprised by the voices we came up with. It’s a film that gives you courage, so please come see it in theaters!”
Kyon
“I was so happy when the offer came! My niece is a huge Precure fan, so I’m really proud to be involved with the series. During recording, I felt like I said ‘dame’ enough for an entire lifetime (laughs). Pouring all kinds of different emotions into a single word was genuinely difficult. I think there’s something in this film for both children and adults to take away, so please look forward to it!”
