Volume 1 of Gate Season 2: Jietai Kano Umi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri — the manga adaptation of Yanai Takumi‘s novel series, drawn by Sao Satoru — went on sale on August 24, 2026, published by Alphapolis.
The series is a sequel to Gate: Jietai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri, which followed Japan’s Self-Defense Force after a mysterious gate connecting the modern world to a fantasy realm suddenly opened in Ginza, Tokyo. Where the original focused on land battles, Season 2 shifts the spotlight to the Maritime Self-Defense Force as it pushes the investigation into the other world from the sea.
Story
The new volume introduces Etajima Goro and Tokushima Hajime, two characters tasked with exploring the other world via its oceans. Assigned a special mission, the pair board the submarine Kitashio and head into a perilous zone plagued by rampaging pirates.
