A special exhibition titled “富野由悠季の原点－小田原から宇宙へ－ The Beginning Point of Yoshiyuki Tomino: Odawara to the Universe” has been announced for Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture — the hometown of legendary anime director Yoshiyuki Tomino. The event will run across two venues from November through December 2026.
Two Venues, Two Themes
The exhibition is split between two locations, each with its own distinct focus:
- Venue 1 — Odawara Castle Keep (4th-floor exhibition room)
Dates: November 6 – December 6, 2026 | Hours: 9:00–17:00 (last entry 16:30)
Theme: “From Odawara to the Universe” — tracing the arc of Tomino’s creative journey. - Venue 2 — Sannomaru Hall (Small Hall & Gallery Corridor)
Dates: November 23 – December 6, 2026
Theme: “An Invitation to the World of Tomino” — exploring the director’s ideas on technology and “justice” as expressed through his works.
What’s on Display
The exhibition will feature materials Tomino created during his years in Odawara, alongside production documents and reference materials from his subsequent animation works. Together, these exhibits illuminate the deep connection between the director and his hometown.
