ภาพปกมังงะ Baki Gaiden: Retsu Kaioh wa Isekai Tensei Shitemo Ikkō ni Kamawan

TMS Anime announced on Monday that Baki Gaiden: Retsu Kaioh wa Isekai Tensei Shitemo Ikkō ni Kamawan (Baki Side Story — Kaioh Retsu Doesn’t Mind At All If He Gets Reincarnated in Another World), a spinoff manga of Keisuke Itagaki’s Baki franchise, is getting a TV anime adaptation.

About the Manga

The spinoff manga launched in Akita Shoten‘s Monthly Shōnen Champion magazine in 2020. Eiji Mutsui draws the manga, while Keisuke Itagaki and Sai Ihara (Daisuke Ihara) are credited for the original concept and story, respectively. Akita Shoten published the first compiled volume in May 2021 and the 16th volume on March 6. The 17th volume is due on September 8, and the series has surpassed 2 million copies in circulation across print and digital formats.

Stage Play Also in the Works

The Baki The Grappler STAGE team had previously announced in July a stage play adaptation titled Baki The Grappler STAGE Gaiden -Retsu Kaioh wa Isekai Tensei Shitemo Ikkō ni Kamawan. The production will run from March 19–22, 2027 at Owl Spot (Toshima Ward Performing Arts Exchange Center) in Tokyo.

The Baki Franchise Timeline

Itagaki’s original Baki The Grappler martial arts manga ran for 42 volumes in Weekly Shōnen Champion from 1991 to 1999, with Kodama Tales beginning worldwide English distribution in October 2025. The sequel manga Baki ran for 31 volumes from 1999 to 2005, with Media Do handling the English release. Hanma Baki followed with 37 volumes from 2005 to 2012, and the first Baki-Dou ran from March 2014 to April 2018 across 22 volumes. A second Baki-Dou series — using different kanji for “Baki” in the title — ran from October 2018 to June 2023. The franchise’s latest entry, Baki Rahen, launched in August 2023.

Baki Anime on Netflix

The New Grappler Baki: In Search of Our Strongest Hero anime debuted its first season on Netflix in Japan in June 2018, running 26 episodes through December 2018. Netflix released the first 13 episodes internationally in December 2018, followed by the second half in March 2019. Baki: Dai Raitaisai-hen then dropped all episodes simultaneously worldwide on Netflix in June 2020.

Baki Hanma, the third Netflix series, premiered worldwide in September 2021 with all 12 episodes at once. Its second season arrived in July 2023 with the “Tale of Pickle & The Pickle War Saga,” followed by “The Father VS Son Saga” in August 2023.

Most recently, BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai — adapting Itagaki’s first Baki-Dou manga — premiered worldwide on Netflix on February 26 with 13 episodes. Its second cour launched exclusively on Netflix worldwide on June 18, with all 12 episodes available simultaneously.
